About Us

Only a 3-hour drive from Cape Town, a whole new world waits for you to explore. And what better way to explore than to use the magnificent hideaway, Belle Ombre Guesthouse, as both a restful oasis and a base from where to venture out.

Established in March 2007, in a town renowned for its heat, the name Belle Ombre, borrowed from the French and meaning beautiful shade, was no coincidence. Escape the scorching sun in our lush, tree-filled garden where it is always serenely cool.

We are very proud of the Victorian design and spacious, open plan guesthouse. Be sure to take in the beautiful views of the garden from our dining room while enjoying a hearty breakfast.

Stay a little longer and make time to savour a glass of Vredendal wine in the shade of our much-loved wild fig tree. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool before relaxing around a braai fire using one of the top-class braai facilities available to our guests.

Our Location

The West Coast of South Africa is sometimes described as a place where the dessert meets the ocean. With this description in mind, it would only be right to describe Vredendal, and more specifically, Belle Ombre Guesthouse as an oasis. The rich soils of the area and the town’s famous canal system, makes it an agricultural hub. Green vineyards, fruit trees and indigenous birds fill the window frames. And nestled at the heart of it all, our rolling lawns, tall trees and gardens filled with fragrant flowers.

Our Accommodation

Belle Ombre Guesthouse has 7 spacious bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and 11 well-appointed self-catering units. Altogether, we can accommodate 39 guests.

We offer a warm, home-like experience for both business travellers and discerning tourists alike. We pride ourselves on personalised, high-quality service and believe the fact that our guests keep coming back is the best possible testament to our dedication.

The rooms are equipped with coffee & tea making facilities, microwaves and fridges. The self-catering units have kitchenettes. (Some rooms only have showers, but some have bathtubs.) All the units are decorated with care to create a feeling of warmth and relaxation. Our rooms are equipped with single, double and queen- sized beds. And thanks to interleading rooms, families can be accommodated with ease. A real home-away-from-home experience remains our top priority.

Start your day with leisurely stroll through the garden before sitting down to either a full English or continental breakfast in the dining room. There is nothing quite like taking in the views of the pool and the beautiful gardens while enjoying a morning cup of coffee.

As Italians we value family over everything, the owners and the place is the essence. Located in Vredendal this oasis surprise the guests with amazing facility and beautiful scenery. We were lucky to find by chance this place (after a really bad car accident) this people made us fell home. Beautiful rooms, very clean and tidy with all you need. Amazing breakfast and peace of mind. Again we have been treated by the hosts as a family not as customer. We will never forget them and we wait them back home!

Beautiful surroundings in a peaceful location. Clean, neat rooms with warm & friendly staff. It's my second time here on a business trip and I must say I'll return every time! Rooms: Clean, neat, quiet. Safety: Secure rooms, gate upon entering that stays closed. Each guest gets a remote for the gate with their set of room keys. Food & drinks: They offer breakfast included
